Kathryn Ryan

Kathryn Ryan

Artist’s Statement

Kathryn Ryan evokes the landscape of south-west Victoria, through iconic imagery of the trademark cypress trees, which line the region’s coastline and farmland. She imbues her works with moody and solemn light and shade, conveying a dark sense of beauty in solitude. Through her body of work, Ryan captures the Australian landscape in a subtle yet profound fashion.

Influences

Ryan is influenced by both renaissance and impressionist masters, as well as contemporary artists including Bill Henson and Frank Aubrech.
